Kay Maddox Earns Three National Awards

The Emergency Care International Advisory Committee of the National Safety Council chose from hundreds of emergency care instructors who were nominated by their peers to hold the honor of Instructor of the Year. The names were announced at the 2004 92nd annual Congress and Expo Awards banquet in New Orleans this fall.

This award is earned by an emergency care instructor who has made an impact and outstanding contribution to emergency care through volunteerism, leadership and long-term dedication and service to the community.

Kay Maddox, formerly of Rush County, was awarded Best Performance in Training Pediatric First Aid and CPR, AED (automatic defibrillator) Instructor of the Year and overall National Instructor of the Year for all Emergency Care Programs.

Maddox is the owner of On-Site Training Service, specializing in emergency response training for industry, business, childcare and healthcare personnel. Maddox assists with training at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN and St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.

She is a veteran nurse with nearly 35 years experience. She is the daughter of Mildred Akers of Lewisville and the daughter-in-law of Jim and Anne Maddox, formerly of New Castle. Maddox spent most o her adult life providing nursing care and emergency response training in the Rushville area.
